Zeta Media's film streaming service, BFLIX, has released a curation of Director Kim Moon-ok's independent film 'Escape from the Nursing Home…
Zeta Media's film streaming service BFLIX announced on August 26 that it has released Director Kim Moon-ok's film 'Escape from the Nursing Home' as a curated work.
BFLIX continues its curation to introduce lesser-known Korean independent films and hidden masterpieces to audiences, and this work is part of that effort.
What kind of work is it?
'Escape from the Nursing Home' is an 89-minute work that reconstructs the beloved stage play of the same name into cinematic language. It deals with the lives and emotions of the elderly living in an aging society, and the meaning of 'caregiving' as viewed by family and society.
In the play, children place their parents in a nursing home believing it is the best choice for them, but the parents themselves misunderstand this as being trapped in a modern-day Goryeojang, leading to attempts to escape the nursing home.
Who stars in it?
The film stars Park Hyo-geun as Chairman Choi, who prides himself on having lived a successful life in society; Jeon Chae-ryeon as Yoon Sook-hee, a former actress waiting for her son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter who immigrated; Park No-cheol as Yang Jeong-chil, a veteran warrior who defected from the North; and Lee Young-sook as Jeong Ok-ja, a former shaman. They carry out an escape toward a new world to evade the director, played by Chon Taek-geun, who is involved in the nursing home's corruption.
Who is the director?
Director Kim Moon-ok has worked to expand the base of independent films and discover filmmakers as the chairman of the Chungmuro Short Independent Film Festival executive committee. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 59th Film Day in 2021, a Special Award in the Feature Film category at the 25th Chunsa Film Art Awards in 2020 ('Murphy and Sally's Law'), and the Grand Prize in the Film category at the 32nd Yechong Arts and Culture Awards in 2019. His recent works include 'Whistle' (2026), 'Thrush' (2026), and 'Manchun' (2025).
Zeta Media is a company established in 2011, which has been exporting cloud solutions to Japan since 2014 based on large-capacity file management technology and cloud technology specialized for video.
