Internet broadcaster BJ Kei (36, real name Park Jung-gyu) admitted to undergoing police investigation on charges of proxy prescription for sleeping pills.

During a live broadcast on his channel on the 27th, BJ Kei stated, "Articles regarding the proxy prescription of sleeping pills have appeared, and I am the person in question," adding, "I have been investigated regarding that matter." He continued, "I am now receiving prescriptions normally," and added, "I am sorry for causing such a problem. I have cooperated sincerely with the investigation, and now I just need to wait for the results." He also mentioned, "The police investigation ended two days ago," and said, "I will ensure that the same problem does not occur again."

Previously, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced on the 30th of last month that they had booked an internet broadcaster, referred to as 'A', without detention for violating the Narcotics Control Act (psychotropic drugs) and were conducting an investigation. Person A is suspected of having an acquaintance obtain a prescription for sleeping pills, which are classified as psychotropic drugs, on their behalf and then receiving and consuming them. The police received related intelligence and reports on June 13, and after an internal investigation revealed suspicious points, they formally booked the individual as a suspect.

Under current medical law, proxy prescription is only permitted in limited circumstances, such as when a patient is unconscious or has significant difficulty moving, and the persons authorized to receive prescriptions on behalf of others are also limited to the scope defined by law. If the proxy-prescribed medication falls under psychotropic drugs such as Zolpidem, the investigation may extend to violations of the Narcotics Control Act.
