Chungkang College of Cultural Industries (President Choi Seong-sin) School of Manhwa Contents announced that it has signed an industry-academic cooperation agreement with the Japanese manga publisher SORAJIMA (co-CEO Juro Maeda) to foster global webtoon talent and promote content industry exchange.
This agreement was prepared to link the webtoon education and industry sites of Korea and Japan and to expand opportunities for aspiring webtoon creators to enter the global market. Both institutions agreed to strengthen the links between academia and industry and to establish a practical foundation for cooperation for students and creators.
Under the agreement, the two institutions plan to cooperate in various fields over the next five years, including △ mutual visits and human resource exchange among students, faculty, and creators △ sharing professional knowledge and industry information △ planning and operating joint conferences, workshops, and educational programs △ joint global content research, development, and publication links.
On the day of the agreement, a delegation visiting Korea, consisting of major officials including SORAJIMA co-CEO Juro Maeda and the deputy editor of the SHONEN STOKE editorial department, visited Chungkang College of Cultural Industries to hold the signing ceremony and conduct a 1-on-1 face-to-face portfolio feedback session for enrolled students. On this day, 13 pre-selected students participated in the feedback session and received customized mentoring from current producers and directors, followed by in-depth Q&A sessions linked to SORAJIMA's global artist recruitment project.
Yang Hye-rim, Director of Chungkang College of Cultural Industries School of Manhwa Contents, stated, "The agreement with SORAJIMA will serve as a valuable stepping stone for students to gain experience in overseas fields and leap forward as global artists. We will continue to achieve practical global industry-academic cooperation results in connection with regular curriculum, workshops, and the upcoming graduation project exhibition in November."
SORAJIMA co-CEO Juro Maeda said, "It was a very meaningful time to meet and communicate directly with the talented individuals of Chungkang College of Cultural Industries who possess excellent creative capabilities. We look forward to the birth of well-made webtoon IPs that work in the global market by combining the global distribution network that SORAJIMA has built with Chungkang's creative talent pool."
