The participatory music experience project ‘healingsum’, which offers a day of rest through music, will hold its first Healing Music Camp for two days from Thursday, October 29, to Friday, October 30, at ‘Archisketch Seoul’ in Seongsu-dong, Seoul. The camp starts every day at 11:00 AM and continues until 6:00 PM.

This camp is not a place to ‘watch’ a performance, but a place to ‘directly do’ music. Experts in the fields of music and dance active in the field will lead the day by singing, playing, and moving alongside participants rather than on a stage. Participants participate in the program by moving through five experience spaces, namely five ‘islands’, in order.

From dance to song, five experiences met at five islands

· Eoullim Island - Community Dance: A participatory movement art that values participation and communication over dance skills. Participants relax their bodies and minds through circle dance, holding hands and forming circles with community dance experts. This time, where people meet each other with their bodies before words, is the first sequence to open the day.

· Maum Island - Music-MBTI (Healing Music Prescription): A program that informs you of the music genre and representative songs that suit your current mental state and tendencies after answering simple questions. Participants receive their own ‘Healing Music Prescription’ issued on the spot and can listen to the prescribed music immediately through headphones.

· Bannyeo-akgi Island - Find Your Companion Instrument: An experience that starts from the question, ‘You raise a pet, but you don't have a companion instrument?’ Participants sing folk songs they sang in their childhood with an instructor and try playing a song directly with a ukulele. It provides the surprise of being able to play an instrument with one's own hands.

· Iyagi Island - Making My Own Song with AI: Even those who have only listened to songs made by others their whole lives will listen to a song they made today. When a participant writes their story in text, a professional instructor refines it into a lyric structure (intro, verse, chorus), and an AI engine completes a song by adding accompaniment and vocals.

· Mudae Island - I am a Singer Too: Participants choose one song they are most confident in, sing it to the prepared accompaniment, and recording and filming are conducted on-site. The results after post-production are sent to the participants via email. The experience of becoming a ‘singer’ for the first time in one's life decorates the final sequence of the camp.

Starting from active seniors to all generations

healingsum designed the program with active seniors, who are active in learning and interaction even after retirement, as the first target. At the same time, it is composed so that anyone can participate regardless of age, making it good for parents and children, friends, and grandparents to come together. It is expected that the experience of singing one song together and moving together within one circle will serve as an opportunity to narrow the distance between generations.

In an era where digital and AI have become part of daily life, this camp allows people to encounter technology not as a fear, but as a joy. The experience of one's story becoming a song through AI leads to the confidence of enjoying digital culture personally.

The healingsum management team said that while many people have only listened to music their whole lives, opportunities to directly make, sing, and play have been rare, and that healingsum aims to be an island where anyone can stay for a while and meet their own voice and heart. They added that starting with this first camp, they will open healingsum to more regions and generations.

The camp schedule and application method can be checked on the healingsum official website and the KakaoTalk channel ‘healingsum’. As it is a program where experience spaces are visited in order, it is recommended to leave the schedule open and visit in comfortable shoes and clothing so that one can participate in community dance.

healingsum is a participatory cultural project that provides rest and recovery in daily life through music and dance. It opens an ‘island’ to stay in, momentarily escaping from busy daily life, and helps participants meet their own hearts by directly singing, playing, and moving. Starting with the first healing music camp for active seniors, it plans to expand its scope into programs for all generations to participate together.

The Seoul Economic Federation is a private cooperative organization where entities in the economic, social, and cultural fields of the Seoul area work together to increase the vitality of the local community. Aiming to revitalize the local economy and improve the quality of life for citizens, it plans and supports cultural and exchange programs that connect generations and fields. In the future, it plans to steadily expand open programs that any citizen can participate in.
