Actor Jang Seung-jo will make a special appearance as Na Dae-il, a former military doctor and new surgical professor, in the SBS drama 'Doctor X: Era of the White Mafia.' The series, which recently reached a peak national viewership rating of 17.4%, will air its third episode tonight.

Jang Seung-jo will emerge as a new rival to Kim Ji-won, known as the "madhouse surgeon," in the SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Doctor X: Era of the White Mafia.'

'Doctor X: Era of the White Mafia' (produced by Studio S, Studio Dragon, and HighZium Studio) is a refreshing medical noir depicting the activities of Gye Su-jeong (Kim Ji-won), a "madhouse surgeon" with genius surgical skills who refuses to fail or compromise, thereby breaking down massive corruption. Drawing attention for its unique sense of gratification within the SBS "refreshing universe" and Kim Ji-won's intense transformation, the series soared to a peak viewership rating of 17.4% nationally and 14.9% in the second episode, taking an overwhelming first place among all Saturday mini-series. Notably, from its first week of broadcast, it reached number one in the Netflix global non-English TV show category (Tudum, as of 10/5–10/11) and swept first place in both the TV-OTT drama and integrated TV-OTT cast popularity categories announced by Good Data Corporation's FUNdex for the second week of October, signaling a grand start to the 'Doctor X syndrome.'

In the second episode, Gye Su-jeong (Kim Ji-won) heightened interest by dominating Guseo University Hospital with unprecedented speed and technical skill. In particular, Gye Su-jeong provided a sense of catharsis by overturning the corruption of Guseo University Hospital, which weighs even the noble lives of patients against social status, drawing intense focus to her path in shaking up the corrupt hospital.

Amidst this, the production team for 'Doctor X' is piquing curiosity by announcing a special appearance by actor Jang Seung-jo. Jang Seung-jo will play Na Dae-il, a newly appointed surgical professor at Guseo University Hospital. A former military doctor with long service, Na Dae-il is a surgeon with abundant clinical experience and is expected to position himself as a new opponent to Gye Su-jeong.

In the released stills, Jang Seung-jo reveals the image of a flawless surgical professor with a reliable, neat appearance and a relaxed smile. However, a momentary capture of his cold gaze reverses the atmosphere, stimulating curiosity about his true intentions hidden behind his kind exterior. Furthermore, a strange tension is detected even in the moment he shakes hands with Lee Jung-eun (Jang Hui-suk), amplifying questions about what kind of turmoil he will bring to the paths of Kim Ji-won and Lee Jung-eun.

Meanwhile, the third episode of the SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Doctor X: Era of the White Mafia' will air tonight (the 16th) at 9:50 PM.
