Produced by 102Cinema and directed by Jeong Gi-hyeok, Lucky Geum-sun was selected for the 2026 Busan Production Company Feature Film Production Support program. Busan Film Commission has provided 250 million won in production funding, and filming is scheduled to begin in late November.
The film follows Geum-sun, a woman in her early 70s who collapses with angina. She attempts to sell land with property owner Seong-il to raise money for her husband's nursing home fees and the cost of placing her dogs in someone else's care.
The production's emphasis on local actors is expected to broaden opportunities for Busan's film workforce to participate.
Jeong Gi-hyeok won the Directors Guild of Korea Megabox Award at the 27th Busan International Film Festival for Star of Ulsan. His film Drifting opened in September after receiving invitations to several film festivals.
