Independent and short film platform MovieBloc is partnering with the Asian short film awards 'ifva', hosted by the Hong Kong Arts Centre, to hold a special exhibition of award-winning works from the 28th and 29th editions. This event will be released for free to audiences worldwide through the MovieBloc website and app for two weeks from September 14 to 27.
The screening includes a total of 16 short films and animations submitted from six Asian regions, including Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Macau, India, and Iran. Included works range from the documentary 'The Lost Scene: Reinterpreting Cantonese Opera' to 'I Will Hug You,' which captures a slice of Iranian society, and the animations 'Monsoon Blue' and 'Mui.' The platform's role stands out in that it expands the base of Asian independent films and extends the works of emerging creators online.
A MovieBloc official stated, "We are able to introduce the achievements of ifva, which has been discovering emerging Asian creators for the past 30 years, to domestic and international audiences. In December, we plan to present an additional special exhibition of the 30th edition award-winning works, and we plan to continue expanding the online distribution touchpoints for independent films by cooperating with Asian film festivals in the future."
