As it marks the 10th day since the Nepal great floods occurred, the death toll has exceeded 1,200 and the number of missing persons is approaching 5,000. Authorities estimate that at least 639 people are trapped in areas such as hydroelectric power plant tunnels and are continuing search efforts, but are facing difficulties due to the site conditions filled with mud. Furthermore, Nepal and China are engaged in a dispute over responsibility regarding the issue of sharing glacier-related information that was discussed before the disaster.

New York's Radical Housing Policy

Amidst murderous inflation, such as single-family house prices in Queens, New York, reaching up to $4 million (approximately 5.4 billion KRW), Mayor Zoran Mamdani of New York is pushing for radical policies including rent freezes and the introduction of a value-added tax on non-residential housing. However, with building operating costs and insurance premiums rising by 5.3% and 10.5% respectively, concerns are being raised that a rent freeze could instead lead to a decrease in housing maintenance and a shortage of supply.
