13-year-old contestant to perform Yoon Mi-rae song as tribute to mother on 'Our Ballad 2'
The youngest contestant on the SBS audition project 'Our Ballad 2' will perform Yoon Mi-rae's "Good Bye Sadness, Hello Happiness" as a tribute to her mother. The 13-year-old participant travels five hours round-trip by bus each week with her mother to pursue her musical dreams.
The SBS mega audition project 'Our Ballad 2' (planned by Jeong Ik-seung, directed by An Jeong-hyeon, and written by Mo Eun-seol) will feature a 13-year-old contestant with the sensibilities of an R&B master. In the episode broadcasting today (the 19th), the young participant is set to deeply move audiences with a performance of Yoon Mi-rae's "Good Bye Sadness, Hello Happiness."
Among contestants with an average age of 17.9, this participant is the youngest. She shared that she travels five hours round-trip by bus three times a week with her mother to pursue her dream of music. Choosing Yoon Mi-rae's "Good Bye Sadness, Hello Happiness" as a serenade for her mother—who is her closest friend, fan, and family—she prepared the stage to express her devotion.
Her rich emotions and husky vocals, which defy her age, are expected to astonish the entire "Top 100 Ears" panel. Park Kyung-lim is said to have teared up while empathizing with the mother's heart throughout the song. Jung Seung-hwan also offered high praise, stating, “It is just natural talent. It is more than good; it is wondrous.”
The 13-year-old's performance is also expected to spark a confrontation between the "Entertainment Team" and the "Music Team." Jung Jae-hyung will suddenly provoke the group by saying, “Entertainment Team, be quiet,” leading to a rebuttal from the team. Amidst the tension, Cha Tae-hyun will deliver a sharp remark, telling them to “say something that is actually helpful,” leaving viewers curious about the ensuing conflict.
Additionally, a contestant with a unique story of switching genres from 'Show Me the Money' to 'The Ballad of Us' will appear. Possessing exceptionally sparkling eyes and bold speech, this participant piques the curiosity of Cha Tae-hyun before the stage begins and receives endless encouragement to "not be nervous and do well." Attention is focused on how the performance of this participant, who transitioned from hip-hop to ballad, will unfold.
The SBS mega audition project 'Our Ballad 2,' featuring contestants with extraordinary soul and personality, broadcasts tonight at 10 PM.
