KBS 2TV will broadcast a journey walking the Jeju Olle Trail with travel writer Kim Woong-jin and Oreum photographer Choi Kyung-jin on the 30th (Sun) at 6:55 AM. The theme for episode 1053 is 'Walking the Path of Wind and Sea – Jeju Olle Trail,' which introduces four courses out of the 27 courses of the Jeju Olle Trail, totaling approximately 437km, which connects coasts, villages, oreums, and forests.
What is covered in this episode
The two will first walk the section from Yongsu Port to Dangsanbong within Course 12. In this section, they visit a Bangsatap (stone pagoda) that contains Jeju's local sentiments. On the coastal path, they face Chagwido and Wado across the sea; it is said that Chagwido's name comes from the story of stopping Ho Jong-dal, who tried to cut off the energy of the land out of fear that a great person would be born in Jeju. At the summit of Dangsanbong, they take in a view of the vast Gosan Plain.
Next, they walk Course 20, where the deep blue color of the northeastern Jeju sea contrasts with the black basalt paths along the coast. Passing through a basalt zone formed by hardened lava that flowed from a nearby oreum's volcanic eruption, they hear stories of the island's past formation. Afterwards, in Course 7, which features magnificent coastal cliffs, they pass through a forest path that resembles a tropical rainforest to face Oedolgae. In the final Course 18, they conclude their journey by heading toward Daeseom via Yeonbukjeong, where scholars exiled to Jeju looked toward Hanyang and longed for the King.
Cast Introduction
Travel writer Kim Woong-jin is a person who has broadened his perspective by visiting mountains and remote areas around the world, such as high-altitude tribes in The Himalayas and nomads in Central Asia, to meet people living in different environments. He has written about nature and the people living within it and has recorded the moments he encountered through video; this time, he captures the dramatic seasonal changes of nature and the unique lifestyle of the island villages in Jeju. Oreum photographer Choi Kyung-jin accompanies the journey based on his understanding of Jeju's terrain and scenery.
Daeseom is introduced as an absolute conservation area where the sunset is enchanting at dusk. The production team captured the atmosphere of walking the Olle Trail while listening to the wind, waves, and stories of old Jeju, along with viewing points that follow the time the island has lived through.
