The Democratic Party of Korea Culture and Arts Special Committee will hold its first policy forum at the National Assembly Members' Office Building on the 23rd. The meeting aims to discuss the structural effectiveness of the 2027 culture and arts budget to enhance national competitiveness.

The Democratic Party of Korea Culture and Arts Special Committee will conduct a review of fiscal policies surrounding the 2027 culture and arts budget.

On the 23rd at 1:30 p.m., the committee will hold its first policy forum at the National Assembly Members' Office Building, Room 9, under the theme "2027 Culture and Arts Budget: Moving Beyond Expansion to Discuss Structure."

The forum was organized to identify the direction of fiscal policies that support culture and arts, viewing them as a core driver for creating social value and future growth.

In line with the trend of expanding the 2027 culture and arts budget, the committee plans to examine the structural effectiveness of fiscal allocation rather than simple quantitative increases, and discuss ways to strengthen the foundation for basic arts creation and enhance national competitiveness.

Kim Jae-jun, professor emeritus at Kookmin University, will deliver a presentation on "Cultural Resources, Cultural Budget, and National Competitiveness," while Kim Jin, professor of economics at Dongduk Women's University, will present on "Policy Tasks for the 2027 Culture and Arts Budget: Current Status and Issues."

Park Yeong-jeong, former representative of the Korean Artists Welfare Foundation, will serve as the moderator for the general discussion. Participants include music director Hwang Ho-jun, Jang Won-seok, CEO of BA Entertainment, Jeong Hyeon-uk, CEO of Artrover, Chae Sin-deok, chairperson of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee, and Jang Ung-jo, dean of the Hongik University Graduate School of Arts and Cultural Management.

The forum is co-hosted by the Democratic Party of Korea Culture and Arts Special Committee and the offices of National Assembly Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee members Lee Jae-jung, Lee Jeong-mun, Kim Yun-deok, Noh Jong-myeon, Jeong Jun-ho, Jo Gye-won, and Choi Min-hee. It is co-organized by the Korean Association for Policy Studies and the Cultural Powerhouse Network.

Following the forum, an appointment ceremony for the vice-chairperson group, consisting of 29 field experts from the culture and arts community, will be held under the direction of the Democratic Party of Korea International Cooperation Bureau.
