- The secret 'abortion' business

On the 12th, "Unanswered Questions" delves into the truth surrounding the pregnancy termination video uploaded by a mother at 36 weeks, and the "abortion business" being conducted in secret.

A stillborn, or fetal homicide?

A shocking video uploaded to YouTube in June 2024. A full-term mother at 36 weeks, just one month away from her due date, revealed the process leading up to her pregnancy termination surgery. As the fetus appeared healthy with a strong heartbeat even until the day before the surgery, the video caused a massive stir.

As a result of the police investigation, the mother, Ms. Kwon, in her 20s, underwent an abortion at an OB-GYN in Incheon. The director, Mr. Yoon, in his 80s, claimed that because the baby had already died in the womb, he performed an emergency cesarean section to deliver the fetus. He claimed it was a natural stillbirth of unknown cause.

A corpse left in a freezer

At the time of the surgery, there were five people in the operating room besides Director Yoon, including the surgeon, anesthesiologist, and three nursing assistants, but they all testified that they did not see the condition of the fetus and did not hear any crying. Since Ms. Kwon was also under anesthesia, she was unable to see the fetus. Was the fetus truly already dead, as Director Yoon claimed?

"The director wrapped the baby in a surgical cloth, placed it on a medical cart,"

and "pushed it into the next room."

- Jeong Ho-woon / Former Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Medical Investigation Team

During the investigation, the police secured a strange eyewitness account. It is said that Director Yoon placed the delivered stillborn in a black plastic bag and put it in a freezer in the warehouse. The fetal corpse was reportedly left in the freezer for over two weeks before being sent to a crematorium through a cremation agent.

Secret ledgers and the abortion business

"Ms. Kwon's name was there, and there were 527 cases, including the abortions of babies at high gestational weeks."

- Kang Yoon-seok / Former Head of Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Medical Investigation Team

During the search and seizure of Director Yoon's OB-GYN, a notebook was discovered, and surprisingly, it contained the names and amounts of 527 mothers who underwent abortion surgeries over a two-year period. There were as many as 110 mothers in their late stages of pregnancy (28 weeks or more), and like Ms. Kwon, all were recorded as 'stillborns.'

Did Director Yoon dispose of a dead child, or did he murder a living one? Ms. Kwon, at the center of the controversy, stands before the camera for the first time in a broadcast. What story will she tell? The production team went undercover to uncover the reality of pregnancy terminations occurring at high gestational weeks. What eerie transactions are being made in the world behind the secret operating rooms?

This week's SBS "Unanswered Questions" will be broadcast on the 12th (Sat) at 11:10 PM.
