A man in his 50s died of cardiac arrest following multiple self-harm attempts after being assaulted by his Vietnamese wife, just 90 days after their marriage.
The story of a man in his 50s who died just three months after an international marriage with a Vietnamese woman has belatedly come to light. According to media reports, the YouTube channel 'Tuu Couple' revealed on the 30th of last month the story of Mr. A (in his 50s), who passed away last year after an international marriage. The informant, a senior or junior acquaintance who had known Mr. A for nearly 20 years, stated that Mr. A had been postponing the international marriage due to his mother's opposition but pursued it in earnest after his mother's death. It is known that Mr. A sold his private taxi, which was his means of livelihood, to raise the marriage expenses.
Mr. A decided to marry based only on photos received through an acquaintance's introduction, and after meeting the woman for the first time in Vietnam, they held a traditional wedding. The informant stated that on the first night of the marriage, they first noticed tattoos all over the wife's body. Later, during the health examination process for visa issuance, it was also revealed that the wife had a sexually transmitted disease. Despite warnings from those around him, Mr. A pushed through with the marriage, and the wife entered Korea in March last year.
The newlywed life was not smooth. The wife used a separate room from her husband, often worked until dawn, and conflicts deepened as she expressed her intention to return to Vietnam without extending her visa. Although Mr. A persuaded her to live together for just one year and she accepted, a physical fight subsequently broke out between the two, and the wife, who reported it to the police, was moved to a shelter.
After the wife left, Mr. A attempted self-harm several times and died of cardiac arrest while being moved to a hospital. It was approximately 90 days after the wedding ceremony. The suicide note found afterward is reported to contain contents such as "I was beaten too much by my wife" and "I was struck with a knee, breaking three of my front teeth." The informant stated that they are raising the issue with relevant authorities based on the suicide note and other evidence.
