Inheriting the legacy of the representative Korean environmental campaign brand, SBS has scheduled a regular broadcast for its new environmental/ESG IP, 〈The Earth is Life〉 (Producer Kim Tae Hyung), starting with its first broadcast on Wednesday, September 2 at 3:30 PM. Even in a media environment centered on economics, SBS, which has prioritized the value of life as a 'sustainable responsibility' rather than a one-off issue, is presenting a new program with an expanded worldview in response to the era of climate crisis where heatwaves and floods have become daily life.

Since its first broadcast in 1993, SBS has opened the horizon of domestic environmental journalism by throwing the powerful proposition 'Water is Life' to the world. After officially formalizing this as a 'Promise to the Nation' on January 12, 2001, it has silently recorded the changes in ecosystems such as rivers, wetlands, oceans, and water resources for over 25 years.

The newly unveiled 〈The Earth is Life〉 is an 'environment × action documentary and participatory campaign' that looks at the entire climate system, including air, soil, energy, and cities beyond just water resources, exploring human survival strategies beyond simple nature conservation. In particular, this program started from the sense of responsibility that terrestrial broadcasters must go beyond viewership ratings or commercial topicality to form a practical public forum regarding 'what we must do now' in the era of the climate crisis. Overcoming the limitations of existing environmental documentaries that focused on warnings and accusations, the program plans to deliver hope to viewers that 'change is possible through action' by closely covering subjects who are actually creating changes in daily life, such as young farmers, leading ESG companies, and climate-adaptive city planners.

The program will be hosted by SBS climate and environment specialist reporter Jang Se-man, who will unravel climate and environmental issues, which can be heavy and rigid, through friendly storytelling in a 'road trip' format. Combined with information graphics, expert interviews, and field investigations, it will provide overwhelming visuals and immersion by connecting the past, present, and future through a vast video Archive accumulated over the past 20 years and cutting-edge AI future simulation technology. Starting with the first broadcast on September 2, 'The Homework Held by the River, the River Answers,' various episodes closely related to our lives, such as the plastic war, marine debris, hydrothermal energy, and the electricity war in the AI era, will visit viewers every Wednesday.

An SBS official stated, "The sincere interest toward the environment that began with the 'Promise to the Nation' in 2001 has continued for 25 years and has culminated in today's 〈The Earth is Life〉. Beyond a single broadcast program, the integrated public interest IP 〈The Earth is Life〉, which expands into digital platforms, viewer participation projects, educational content, and ESG partnerships between companies, is expected to present a correct milestone for South Korea to move toward in the era of the climate crisis.
