In celebration of the Chuseok holiday, Seoul Donhwamun Gugakdang will hold the '2026 Yeoyujak Concert' at the Gugak Madang for two days from September 24 to 25.
This performance is an outdoor Gugak concert designed to allow people to enjoy Korean music amidst the leisure of autumn and the atmosphere of Hangawi. It features a familiar and exciting program so that anyone, including families, local residents, and foreign tourists, can experience Gugak without burden. Seoul Donhwamun Gugakdang explained that by utilizing the advantages of the Gugak Madang, where audiences can freely stay, listen to music, and enjoy relaxation, they are proposing a leisurely outing of Korean music to citizens visiting the city center during the Chuseok holiday.
Who will take the stage
On the stage on September 24, 'Samhyeon' will perform. Samhyeon is an ensemble consisting of string instruments—Gayageum, Geomungo, and Bipa—from the 'Samhyeonsamjuk' of the Unified Silla period; starting from imagining the sounds of ancient music, they present the unique tones and diverse expressions of the three instruments with modern sensibilities.
Following this, on the 25th, the Korean-style 'wind band' Piri Band Jeokeul, composed only of traditional Korean wind instruments, will decorate the stage. Based on musical Yeonggam discovered in daily life, they plan to interpret traditional sounds in a modern language, conveying the unique charm of Gugak through the powerful sounds and lively performances characteristic of wind instruments.

This year's Yeoyujak Concert includes not only performances but also traditional game experiences that add to the Hangawi atmosphere. On the 24th and 25th, visitors can watch the performances of Samhyeon and Piri Band Jeokeul, and on the 26th and 27th, they can continue the joy of the holiday by experiencing traditional games. Seoul Donhwamun Gugakdang stated that it plans to operate the Gugak Madang as an open cultural space where music, play, and relaxation coexist by linking performances and experiences.
