Lutist and soprano Shin So-yul will hold the concert 'Lagrime mie, Yeo-in's Pearly Tears' at Youngsan Arts Center on September 17 at 7:30 PM.

This performance is a project selected for the 2026 Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture Arts Creation Activity Support, and it features the works of 17th-century Italian Baroque female composers Francesca Caccini, Barbara Strozzi, and Isabella Leonarda. The program is composed of vocal and instrumental pieces centered around their works, which are difficult to encounter in Korea.

What pieces will be performed?

The program is composed of Caccini's 'Sinfonia dalla Liberazione di Ruggiero', 'Lasciatemi qui solo', 'Maria, Dolce Maria'; Strozzi's 'Sul Rodano severo', 'Lagrime mie', 'Hor che Apollo, Op. 8'; and Leonarda's 'Sonata, Op. 16, No. 1', 'Sonata, Op. 16, No. 12', and 'Ave suavis dilectio'.

Who will perform?

The stage will be led by Shin So-yul at the center. After graduating from Seoul Arts High School, Shin So-yul completed a Bachelor of Early Music Vocal Performance in Tübingen, Germany, and a Master's in Medieval Music with top honors at the Milan Conservatory in Italy. She majored in lute at the Pavia National Conservatory and the Verona National Conservatory in Italy, and has been active as a lutist and soprano on the European stage, researching Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque music. Joining this performance are Baroque violinist Kim Ye-sol, Baroque cellist Oh Si-min, harpsichordist Woo Young-im, and recorder Choi Kyung-sun.

Shin So-yul stated, "Through this performance, I want to meet the music of female composers who have not been sufficiently highlighted for a long time with the audience," and added, "I intend to convey the beauty and vivid expressions of 17th-century Italian music on today's stage."
