Former actress turned influencer Yoo Hye-won has sued Kim Ji-min, a participant of Channel A's 'Heart Signal 4', on charges of defamation. On the 26th, Yoo Hye-won's side filed a complaint with the Gangnam Police Station through legal representatives, alleging violations of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection.
This lawsuit arose after a post, reportedly uploaded by Kim Ji-min using the 'Close Friends' feature in June, was captured and spread online. The post is said to have contained claims that while Yoo Hye-won was dating a specific basketball player, she was receiving so-called 'sponsorship' from a famous singer and producer.
Yoo Hye-won's side has taken a firm stance, stating that such contents are false. Kim Bum-sik, a lawyer at the law firm Daeryeon representing Yoo Hye-won, stated, "Ms. Yoo Hye-won and Ms. Kim Ji-min do not know each other and have no connection." He added, "Nevertheless, we view the circumstances under which specific details regarding an extremely private domain were mentioned very seriously." If necessary, Yoo Hye-won's side plans to request an investigation into the original creator of the information, the transmitter, and the distribution process, and will proceed with claims for damages depending on the results of the criminal complaint.
On the 28th, two days after the lawsuit was made known, Yoo Hye-won posted a single photo on her personal account without any additional explanation. The photo included the phrase "Justice will prevail" (Sapilguijeong), conveying the meaning that "though the wrong may seem to flourish temporarily, it cannot last long and eventually, the right will win," drawing attention in connection with this lawsuit.
Yoo Hye-won appeared in the 2018 web drama 'Go, Baek Diary' and appeared in the Mnet dating reality show 'Couple Palace 2' last year. Kim Ji-min became known through Channel A's 'Heart Signal 4' in 2023.
