Game sound specialist company Changjo Gongjakso announced that it held the '1st AI Game Sound Design Challenge with GXG 2026 (AI GSDC)' awards ceremony at the game culture festival 'GXG 2026', held around the Pangyo Station Plaza in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do, on the 12th.
'AI GSDC' is Korea's first AI game sound competition where participants use the AI game sound production platform 'Gamesound.ai' to newly create music (BGM), sound effects (SFX), and voice (VOICE) for game videos provided without sound. It was hosted by Changjo Gongjakso and co-organized by Audia and Likers.
This competition was supported by GXG 2026, Com2uS Platform, Microsoft, Morisawa Korea, and the Korea Mobile Game Association. Kim Jong-hyuk, CEO of Morisawa Korea, LUDA, Director of Com2uS Platform, and Shin So-heon, CEO of Changjo Gongjakso, attended as presenters to award the winners.
A total of 12 game companies, including Com2uS, Haegin, AK Interactive, NDream, Blueposion Games, Storytaco, Tripearl Games, Dream Motion, Red Jingko Games, Hypersent, Bird Letter, and Ubis, provided videos of 15 game IPs for the competition. While restricted from using external music or samples, participants reinterpreted each game with their own unique sounds by generating, editing, and mixing sound effects, music, and voices using Gamesound.ai. Ten works that passed the preliminary evaluation by professional judges reached the finals, and the final winners were selected by combining user web voting and judge evaluations.
The gold prize was awarded to team 'OVERTAKE' for their reinterpretation of 'World War Machines: Conquest'. OVERTAKE implemented the chaos and urgency of the battlefield by harmoniously composing grand background music, combat sound effects, and voices.
The silver prize (Hive Award) was won by 'Iro-i' for working on 'Backroom Cleaners'. The bronze prizes were awarded to 'Wasretheita' for 'Backroom' and 'DCTL' for 'Dragon Rider', respectively. The Popularity Award went to 'team ohah' for 'EOS BLACK' and Jung Ha-yun for 'My Little Puppy'.
The gold prize winning team was provided with 3 million won in cash, 1 million won in Hive credits, and a 1-year subscription to Gamesound AI Ultra. The silver prize winner received 1 million won in cash, and the bronze prize winners each received 500,000 won in cash, along with various benefits such as Hive credits and Gamesound.ai subscriptions.
Shin So-heon, CEO of Changjo Gongjakso, who hosted the 1st to 3rd 'Korea Game Video Music Festival' 25 years ago and currently serves as an advisor/consultant for the GXG Game Music Competition, said, "Through these entries, we confirmed the possibility that Gamesound.ai can be utilized in actual game sound production and that the creator's editing and mixing capabilities determine the completeness of the work." He added, "While AI lowers the burden of production and enables various attempts, it is the creator's role to refine the generated sounds to fit the game and breathe life into them."
He continued, "Game music is a field where musicians of various colors can participate because it is based on free worldviews and is not biased toward specific genres or trends. As the game industry grows, game audio and music also have a high possibility of growing into a cultural industry."
Videos and sounds of the 10 finalists, including the winning works, can be found on the official AI GSDC website.
