Mega MGC Coffee is expanding its territory beyond beverage sales spaces to become an offline base where fans can share their tastes and build connections. By successively presenting collaborations with K-pop and popular character IPs, the company is reconfiguring its stores into cultural consumption spaces.
According to Mega MGC Coffee, the number of actual store visits and purchases resulting from IP collaboration campaigns in the first half of this year reached approximately 3 million. If online participation, such as SNS verification conducted on-site at stores, is added, the practical impact is expected to be even greater.
Notably, in Season 2 of the collaboration campaign conducted with SM Entertainment, customers received experiences where they could enjoy drinks at the store while communicating with artists, which also led to offline events such as fan signing sessions, receiving positive responses. Approximately 600,000 people participated in the concert-linked frequency promotion last June, and the official goods for the Catch Teenieping movie, released exclusively in July, received a strong reaction primarily from Children and family customers, with franchise order volumes being exhausted within about a week of release and stock running out in stores nationwide in about a month.
Behind this trend lies a dense store network of approximately 4,400 locations nationwide and campaign designs that lower the burden of participation. The company explained that it increased accessibility by having stores not only in the metropolitan area but also in various regional areas, and created a structure where consumers can participate without burden, such as reducing the number of frequency missions compared to other franchises. This approach utilizing a large-scale store network can be seen as an example of an offline experience expansion strategy through IP collaboration in the franchise industry.
The company explained that the structure provides new customer inflow and additional revenue to franchisees, fandom activities within daily routines to consumers, and an expansion of touchpoints with the young consumer base to the headquarters.
A Mega MGC Coffee official stated, “Mega MGC Coffee aims to be a space where customers gain joy and cultural satisfaction in their daily lives, beyond a simple cafe space. In the future, based on the accessibility of stores nationwide and reasonable pricing policies, we plan to strengthen the structure that communicates with fans and leads to increased sales for franchisees.”
